A new partnership was formed yesterday when Angela and Rika teamed up to practice for their upcoming USTA match this week. What makes a good doubles team? Sometimes the saying, opposites attract works for doubles teams. It is beneficial for an “aggressive” partner to play with a consistent one. Also an emotional, extroverted player may benefit from a partner who tends to be calm and less reactive. Make sure your partner has the same goals as you. If your goal is to play tennis for social reasons (friends, lunch) and your partner’s goal is to win, win, win, your lunch may not be so much fun! Good communication is important – on and off the court. A good partner should bring out the best in their partner and vise versa. Have fun and remember, “love means never having to say your sorry”.
