- PRC Memorial Garden
One of the most special areas at PRC is the Memorial Garden, located behind Clay court #1. There are trees planted in memory of very special friends who frequented the PRC courts and were an inspiration to many players at the club. Thanks to Jacinta Samuel for her dedication to making the garden so pretty.
One of the trees that is planted is in memory of Mary Neville. Today is Mary’s birthday. She was a tournament level player who participated in drills and the PRC USTA 4.5 league team for many years. One of Cos’s favorite matches was a victory with Mary. Mary arrived to the match after 8 hours of chemotherapy. Mary and Cos survived 5 match points down in the third set tiebreaker and came back for the win. Mary fought hard to the end. Ironically, she dedicated her life for cancer research and her laboratory was named in her honor after her passing. Happy Birthday, Mary Nev.
