While attending the PTR Symposium each year, Cos and Judy look forward to hearing Dr Jim Loehr, who is considered to be the mental toughness expert for tennis. We have shared many topics that Dr. Loehr has designed and presented throughout the years to many juniors and adults. During the last two years, the focus has been on character development and kindness (release of oxytocin). Last week, the topic was the POWER OF PURPOSE and we will share some of our thoughts. What is your purpose in playing tennis? in life? Do you know where you are going? Are you achievement driven – win or lose, or do you value being happy and a good person more than achievements? Does playing tennis make you happy and/or a good person? Some people, especially those observing children, would say that some youngsters are not happy unless they win. Even more alarming is if a win is achieved as a result of not being a “good person” on the court (cheating, intimidating opponent).
At Princeton Racquet Club, it is our goal to promote Pride, Respect and Character above results from achievements (win/loss). Try plugging in your GPS for your life journey. Where are you going? Are you on route or have you taken a detour?
We frequently hear that PRC is a second home during people’s life journey. That is why Cos, Judy and Auggie are excited to be home again.
