We have heard several comments by players scheduled to play USTA matches on damp clay- either from a previous rain or in misty conditions. The players claim that the courts are slippery and dangerous. This is not true. If you watched the Italian Open this week, including today, you may have noticed the spectators, dressed in raincoats and under umbrellas. The pros played in a steady drizzle without any safety issues. Actually, the more dry the clay, the more slippery it would be. Just another wonderful benefit of clay courts!
